Barton Swaim

Barton Swaim is Communications Manager at the South Carolina Policy Council. He joined the organization in February of 2011. Barton confers with the state’s news media, coordinates the Policy Council’s communications strategy, and ensures that our material is clearly and accurately written.

Prior to joining the South Carolina Policy Council, Barton worked in the Communications Office of Governor Mark Sanford. He holds postgraduate degrees in English literature from Edinburgh University and the University of South Carolina. He writes frequently for The Weekly Standard, The New Criterion, The Wall Street Journal, and the Times Literary Supplement.

He is married with three daughters.
